This is a Comic Translation Blog

Everything that is published and will be published in this site falls within one single interest, topic, and field: the translation of comics. Even as we, the authors, were barely beginning to give form to this endeavour, it quickly became clear that it still encompasses a vast world of themes for discussion and analysis.


We set to undertake this adventure for our irredeemable passion for those two areas: translation (we are translators) and comics (we are avid comic readers). While we have enjoyed many hours of delight reading both original and translated versions of comics, we realize that this subject has not been treated with anywhere near enough detail, attention, and depth as such a field deserves.


Our main goal with this site and its content is to bring attention to both the result and the process of comics translation. By analysis, comparison, research, and comment we aim to increase the understanding the reader has of this area. And to have fun while doing it.


We have no personal enmity towards any person doing comics translations, nor we seek to belittle and deride the efforts of all those involved in the industry bringing comics to the readers' hands. Nonetheless, we will treat the subject with as much care and critical interest as we would the translation of a novel, or a poem, or any work of art.


For, very much like the internet, comics translation is serious business.

Todo lo publicado y por publicar en este sitio está motivado por un sólo interés, tema y campo: la traducción de cómics. Apenas empezábamos a darle forma a esta empresa, cuando de inmediato fue evidente que abarca un vasto mundo de temas para discutir y analizar.


Nos dispusimos a emprender esta aventura por nuestra pasión irredimible por esas dos áreas: la traducción (somos traductores) y los cómics (somos ávidos lectores de cómics). Aunque hemos disfrutado muchas horas de lectura deleitosa con versiones tanto originales como traducidas de cómics, nos queda claro que este tema no ha sido tratado con el detalle, atención y profundidad que merece un campo así.


Nuestro objetivo principal con este sitio y su contenido es llamar la atención sobre el proceso y el resultado de la traducción de cómics. A través del análisis, la comparación, la investigación y el comentario buscamos que el lector incremente su comprensión sobre esta área. Y también queremos divertirnos mientras lo hacemos.


No buscamos antagonizar con nadie que haga traducción de cómics, ni buscamos hacer menos y denostar los esfuerzos de todos aquellos involucrados en la industria que lleva los cómics a las manos de los lectores. No obstante, trataremos el asunto con cuidado e interés crítico, tal como lo haríamos con la traducción de una novela, un poema, o cualquier obra de arte.


Porque, tal como el internet, la traducción de cómics es una empresa seria.
